Pokemon Sword and Shield is getting two pieces of DLC this year: one during the summer, the other later on in the year. Nintendo has released a video in which they show off some new features coming in the Isle of Armor, the first of the two expansions. One of those features are the Towers of Two fists, two unique challenges that will allow you to evolve one particular legendary pokemon into a more impressive form.
After you’ve completed your training under Master Mustard in the new dojo, you’ll get a legendary pokemon called Kubfu. As you train with Kubfu, the teddy bear with a nasty temper, you’l get permission to take on the challenge in one of the Towers of Two Fists. You can only choose one – either the Tower of Darkness, or the Tower of Water. Once you’ve chosen, you and Kubfu will face the challenges inside alone.
If you prevail, the cutesy teddy bear will evolve into Urshifu, an equally cutesy but much more buff kung fu bear. His new fighting style will depend on the tower you’ve chosen. If you choose the Tower of Darkness, he will learn the Single Strike Style. On the other hand, if you pick the Tower of Waters, he’ll learn the Rapid Strike Style.
They’ve also shown off the Gigantamax forms of the evolved versions of all three starter pokemon. Their moves include Gmax Drum Solo, in which Rillaboom uses drums to control roots that burst from the ground; Gmax Fireball, in which Cinderace uses a fireball as a soccer ball; and Gmax Hydrosnipe, in which Inteleon squirts water at their opponents from a great height. These moves ignore the opponents abilites.
