Once you’ve made your way through Inkwater Marsh you will enter a place called Kwolok’s Hollow. In Kwolok’s Hollow you are tasked with finding a character named Kwolok who can share more information on the whereabouts of Ku. To help you complete this area use our Ori and the Will of the Wisps Kwolok’s Hollow guide below.
Kwolok’s Hollow Map
To help you make your way through this area of Ori and the Will of the Wisps I’ve put together the map above. On this map I’ve highlighted the various story line elements you need to interact with to advance the story. Use this map and the text guide below to make your way through this area.
How to Reach Kwolok
When you enter Kwolok’s Hollow you will be tasked with finding the character named Kwolok. This character will appear on your map in the black ether. You need to make your way through this area to reach this NPC. Before you can make your way to the character you will need to take a rather round about way that features new abilities, enemies, and even upgrades.
Getting the Dash Ability
Beofere you can head off to Kwolok’s place you need to first get the Dash abilty. This ability can be found at the bottom portion of Kwolok’s Hollow.Head down into the Hollow and continue heading further down until you reach the bottom section with the Dash ability. Grab the ability from the tree and immediately use it to traverse the falling blocks to the right. With Dash you can traverse a number of new locations like the entire path near the entrance. Go back there now. Note on the way back you can use Dash to access Lupo’s shop. She sells the map of this area for 100. Buy it.
Accessing the Purple Door
To reach the new path you need to dash jump from the far left entrance platform to underneath the platform with the locked purple door on it. When you reach this platform use your Spirit Arc on the purple orb to open the purple door above. Head up to that door and go right through it. Sit at the shrine here then continue heading to the right for a boss fight.
Boss Fight: Horn Beetle
The Horn Beetle is the first real boss fight you will encounter in Ori and the Will of the Wisps. This boss is fairly simple as its mechanics are built around the Dash ability you just got. Basically the Horn Beetle has the following attacks:
- Fire Spike Breath: Shoots spiky fire breath at you that runs along the ground. Must be jump dashed to avoid.
- Ground Slam: Jumps into the air and slams down. Simply dash under to get on the opposite side.
- Charge: Stays on the ground and charges. Jump dash over top to avoid.
- Charge w/Ground Slam: Charges and then ground slams. Can be dodged with dash during either the charge or the ground slam.
Once you have a general idea of the attacks this boss uses you will be able to fight it fairly easily. Keep in mind the orange side of the Horn Beetle is where you can deal damage so you basically need to get the dodging down to defeat this boss. If you are having trouble be sure to equip the regenerate ability so you can heal up during the fight.
Getting the Bash Ability and Meeting Kwolok
Early we got the Dash ability and now we are going to get its brother, the Bash ability. Head to the right of the boss arena To come to a ledge with an enemy shooting poison off of it. Let it shoot the projectile so it breaks the ground where it lands. Drop down through the hole and go all the way down until you reach the Bash ability. Using this ability we can shoot ourselves through things like hanging lanterns. With this ability head all the way back up to the area where the floor broke and use that enemies projectiles to reach the platform it is on. Head to the right until you reach Kwolok.
When you reach Kwolok a cutscene will trigger. After you speak to Kwolok he mentions getting the watermill going again which is located to the north of the Inkwater Marsh. Backtrack or warp your way back to Inkwater Marsh and make your way up to The Wellspring using our new Bash and Dash abilities.
