Minecraft Sonic DLC announced to celebrate anniversary, released today

Everyone’s favorite fast blue hedgehog is speeding into an unlikely crossover with Minecraft. Thanks to the 30th anniversary of Sonic there is now a Minecraft Sonic DLC fans can grab starting today.

Available now through the Minecraft Marketplace, the new Minecraft x Sonic the Hedgehog DLC brings 3d runner action to the popular builder title. The trailer of the DLC is attached above.

The crossover DLC tasks players with completing a number of races where they must collect rings in typical Sonic fashion. Levels include things like Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone, but with a procedurally generated twist. On these maps there is a variety of obstacles to deal with including bosses. Also included in the pack characters including the likes of Shadow, Tails, Amy, and Dr. Robotnik.

To celebrate the event there is a The Hive hosted server event coming soon. It will take place over two-weeks and will feature mini-games and a few surprises according to the official reveal post.

This crossover is just one of many planned for the 30th anniversary of the Sonic game. A new movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, is coming on April 28, 2022. There is also a live-stream event that Sega is holding that will be happening soon.
