This is just the second time that 2K Sports has included the PGA Tour license, so fans were beyond excited for the collaboration when the announcement was made. The game has since received tremendous reviews, as many players claim that it offers up the most realistic, customizable, and fun PGA video game experience of all time. PGA 2K21 has introduced various new features to make the game more enjoyable and accessible for all players regardless of their experience.
However, one issue many newcomers have is trying to figure out how to put backspin on the ball in PGA 2K21. Adding backspin to your shot is a great way to enable more accurate lies with the ball so that even if you hit the ball too far away from the green, it still has a chance to roll downhill towards the hole. To help you get started, we have come up with the following steps.
How to Put backspin on the Ball in PGA 2K21
Unlike previous PGA games, in 2K21, you will have to set up your backspin before your swing, as you won’t be able to adjust the ball while it’s in the air. To put backspin on your shot, you will need to press L1 on PlayStation or LB on Xbox, at which point you will then see two gauges pop up in the middle-left of your screen.
The left of those two gauges presented will indicate where on the ball you’re hitting. You would then either move the left thumbstick up to get topspin on the shot or move it down to get backspin.
The further down you move the stick, the more backspin will be added to your shot. As you move the toggle, you will notice that the white line in the middle of the shot indicator will start to get narrower, making it harder to pull off a “perfect shot.”
If you get it just right, you should see your ball begin to roll back after it lands, and if you manage to hit it on the green, then you’ve set yourself up beautifully for the next shot.
