You may have noticed a new type of item in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6: vehicle mods. Version 16.20 update introduced this new item type, and you might be wondering how they work. As the name implies, these items are for upgrading your vehicles, and there is currently one type of vehicle mod, which we’ll cover in this guide. Here’s how to mod cars in Fortnite for some off-road action, and a full list of garage locations around the map.
Where to find Vehicle Mods in Fortnite: Garage Locations
To mod cars in Fortnite, you’ll need to find one of the vehicle mods in-game. Many of the significant points of interest on Fortnite‘s island now have a small garage building. There are ten easy-to-find garages around the map, which you can see in the image below.
- Sweaty Sands
- Pleasant Park
- West of Steamy Stacks
- West of Holly Hedges
- East of Colossal Crops
- East of The Spire
- Weeping Woods
- Lazy Lake
- West of Misty Meadows
- Catty Corner
When you locate a garage, look around the floor or destroy some objects and workbenches to find some vehicle mods.
Vehicle Mod Types in Fortnite
Currently, these are the vehicle mods available in Fortnite:
- Vehicle Mod: Off-Road Tires
Off-Road Tires are the only available vehicle mod in the game at the time of writing. These tires give a vehicle off-road capabilities, allowing them to climb up mountains and maintain maximum speed when not on the road.
How to Mod Vehicles in Fortnite
When you find a Vehicle Mod, walk over to it and pick it up like you would any other item. These are common items, and they will take up an item slot. Pull out the vehicle mod, and aim it at a vehicle. Press and release the primary fire button to throw the mod and apply it to a vehicle.
You can apply off-road tires to the following vehicles:
- OG Bear (Pickup Truck)
- Titano Mudflap (Big Rig)
- Victory Motors Whiplash (Sports Car)
- Islander Prevalent (Regular Car)
Hopefully, we see more mods introduced into Fortnite soon. These are neat items that add some customization and functionality to some of the existing in-game vehicles.
