I’ve always loved the idea of Cerberus, and it’s not just because I’m a mythology nerd. It’s a giant, vicious, three-headed doggy that does a great job of guarding your stuff. And when it’s not guarding your stuff, you’ve got three heads to give scratchies to! It’s three dogs in one! If you’re in dire need of more dogs in your life, then you’ll definitely want to get a Cerberus mount for yourself in Final Fantasy XIV.
As a part of the game’s version 5.45 patch, you can now obtain a massive multi-seater Cerberus mount for your riding pleasure. This big blue wonder can fit you and two other passengers on its three heads. However, as the Cerberus mount is a unique item, you can’t obtain it by trading with other players, so the only way you’re riding this thing is if you have a friend willing to give you a lift or you earn it yourself. That’s where things get a little tricky.
How to get the Cerberus Mount in Final Fantasy XIV
To get the Cerberus mount, you’ll need to clear the game’s newest raid for the 5.45 patch, Delubrum Reginae, and you gotta do it on Savage difficulty. It’s a level 80 raid with an entry barrier of 700,000 Mettle and Resistance rank 15, not to mention the fact that you can’t even attempt it without a full retinue of 48 players. I ain’t gonna sugarcoat it for you, this raid is a real butt-kicker, and will require the utmost coordination between you and your associates.
If you can manage to clear Delubrum Reginae on Savage, you’ll receive the achievement “Savage Queen of Swords I.” Neat, but that’s not what we’re here for; we’re here for giant doggies. To claim your Cerberus mount, go find Jonathas in Old Gridania (map coordinates X:10, Y:6). After a brief chat regarding your recent raid conquest, he’ll reward you with the Cerberus Horn item. Give that horn a toot, and Cerberus will appear, ready for riding.
