Needles are frightening, and I don’t just say as someone with a pathological fear of needles. While the idea of getting shot with an arrow is certainly unappealing, get shot with a laser-precision needle sounds even worse. But if you can conquer that fear, you can turn them into a viable weapon. Here’s how to craft needle arrows in Valheim.
Of Valheim’s various arrow types, needle arrows are the strongest non-elemental ones you can make. These prickly stingers pack a piercing damage rating of 62, plus a knockback of 15. That’s higher than even obsidian arrows. And unlike every other arrow type, they don’t even require any wood in their construction. So, what’s the catch? Well, those needles don’t come from the pharmacy. The only way to get needles for needle arrows is by killing Deathsquitos, the massive mosquito monsters roaming the Plains biome. Just one of these beasts can completely wipe out a party if you’re unprepared for them, which can make attempting to get needles a bit of a sunk cost fallacy.
How to Craft Needle Arrows in Valheim
To craft a stack of Needle Arrows in Valheim, you’ll need to make sure you have the following materials for the recipe:
- 4 Needles
- 2 Feathers
Needle arrows can be crafted at a normal workbench, no special upgrades required. If you can somehow manage to obtain a large quantity of needles, then needle arrows are great to have. If, however, you don’t have a reliable means of farming them from Deathsquitos, needle arrows are best saved as an emergency trump card, to be brought out when obsidian arrows run out or otherwise aren’t cutting it. Or piercing it, I guess.
