Hogwarts Legacy, the upcoming Harry Potter based RPG from Warner Bros. Games, Portkey Games, and Avalanche has been delayed into 2022. The title was originally slated to release in 2021, but it appears as though it will need more time.
Hogwarts Legacy Delayed to 2022
News of the delay came from the official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account. The image posted contained a message to fans that states the following:
We would like to thank fans from around the world on the tremendous reaction to the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy from our Portkey Games label. Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us so we are giving the game the time it needs. Hogwarts Legacy will be released in 2022.
Not much is known about the upcoming wizard title. We have seen a reveal trailer that showed off a bit of gameplay, but that’s about all we’ve seen gameplay wise. Further details on the game have been provided via text on the game’s official website with there being a promise of an immersive, open-world action RPG set at Hogwarts in the late 1800s. Players take on the role of a student at Hogwarts who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear apart the wizarding world. How you choose to wield this key remains up to you.
Given the source material and gameplay the studios are attempting it makes sense to see the game is delayed. When it was first revealed there was a swell of interest around the title. Given its appeal I’m sure the developers involved in the game wish to deliver a memorable Harry Potter experience. When the game does release it is slated PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC
