Everything Announced in the February 2021 Nintendo Direct

On February 17th, 2021 Nintendo held an official Nintendo Direct livestream highlighting a number of new games coming to the Nintendo Switch in the first half of 2021. This livestream lasted roughly 50 minutes and featured a wide range of games including the likes of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate characters, Legend of Zelda, and Splatoon. The full rundown of everything announced in the February 2021 Nintendo Direct can be seen below.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to Add Pyra/Mythra as Playable Character

The first major announcement during the livestream was the reveal that Pyra/Mythra will be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Pyra is a character from the RPG title Xenoblade 2. This character will release in March.

Fall Guys is Coming to the Switch

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate announcement was followed by a brief Fall Guys trailer. This trailer announced that Mediatonic’s Fall Guys will be releasing on the handheld sometime in Summer 2021.

The Outer Wilds is Coming to the Switch

Following the Fall Guys announcement there was a reveal that the popular space exploration title The Outer Wilds is slated to release on the Nintendo Switch as well. This revelation came in the form of a short trailer. The release date for this title is sometime in Summer 2021.

Famicom Detective Club is Coming to Switch

The popular detective series Famicom Detective Club is slated to release on the Nintendo Switch. There will be two titles launched from the series: Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind. Both titles will arrive on May 14th.

Samurai Warriors 5 is Coming to the Switch

Samurai Warriors 5 is coming to the Nintendo Switch. This title is part of a popular franchise. No release date was given.

Legend of Mana Remaster to Release on Switch

The 20 year old title Legend of Mana is coming to the Nintendo Switch. This retro title will be available for purchase on June 24th.

Monster Hunter Rise Trailer

Monster Hunter Rise received a new trailer. This trailer highlighted the numerous new elements of the handheld title including Wyvern riding and new monsters to hunt. Monster Hunter Rise will release on Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021.

New Mario Golf Title Announced

A new Mario Golf title was announced during the Nintendo Direct event. This new golfing title is called Mario Golf: Super Rush. This title features both normal and movement based controls. There will also be a new speed golfing game mode. This new Mario golfing adventure will launch on the Nintendo Switch on June 25.

Sizzle Reel of Coming Titles

A brief sizzle reel of different titles slatted to release on Nintendo Switch in the coming months was played. All of the titles shown in the reel were:

  • Tales from the Borderlands – March 25th.
  • Capcom Arcade Stadium Suprise – Today.
  • Stubbs the Zombie – March 16.

No More Heroes 3

Following the sizzle reel we got a look at No More Heroes 3. This title is slated to release on August 27th.

Neon White Announcement

Indie publisher Annupurina showed off their first person platformer/action title Neon White in a short trailer. This title is set to release sometime in Winter 2021.

DC Superhero Girls

Following the look at Neon White we got a look at DC Superhero Girls. This title was shown off via a short trailer. This trailer featured a look at super heroes like Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batgirl. This title is slated to launch later on June 4, 2021.

Plants Vs. Zombies is Coming to the Nintendo Switch

The complete edition of Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle for the Neighborville is coming to the Nintendo Switch. This title will be released sometime in later 2021.

Miitopia to Release on Nintendo Switch

A new Mii title has been announced for Nintendo Switch. Dubbed Miitopia, this new title tasks players with traversing a mythical world using their Mii characters. This title is coming to Nintendo Switch on May 21.

Super Mario Items Coming to Animal Crossing

To celebrate the upcoming Super Mario 35th anniversary event Super Mario items will be coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These new items will be available for purchase once in-game when the free update drops on February 25th. Some of the items shown off included warp pipes, blocks, and even flags.

First Look at Project Triangle Strategy

We got our first look at the upcoming Tactical RPG from Square Enix called Project Triangle Strategy. This title is early in development and will release in 2022. A demo is available to try on the Nintendo eShop following the Nintendo Direct.

Star Wars: Hunters Teaser

A brief teaser for the upcoming free to play title, Star Wars Hunter, was shown. This Zynga and NaturalMotion developed title is slated to release in 2021. Not much else was revealed about this title besides it being some type of squad based arena combat game. We also know it is set between the Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens films.

Knockout City Shown

A reimagined sports multiplayer title called Knockout City was shown in a brief trailer. This trailer featured a mix of characters and action that was a combination of rollerblading and dodgeball. This Velan Studio developed game will release on May 21.

World’s End Club

An RPG called World’s End Club was briefly shown. This title is slated to release in May 2021.

Hades Physical Release Revealed

The popular indie title Hades is getting a physical release. This means you will be able to pick up the title in March 19, 2021.

Ninja Gaiden Master Collection Revealed

A collection of the three Ninja Gaiden titles and their DLC content is heading to the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2021.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Season Pass

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity is getting a season pass. This season pass will cost $19.99 USD and will release a slew of new content over the coming months. The full list of what’s in the season pass can be seen in the screenshot above.

Another Sizzle Reel of Soon to be Released Titles

  • Bravely Default 2 – February 26th.
  • Ghost’s and Goblins – February 25th.
  • SaGa Frontier Remastered – April 15th.
  • Apex Legend – March 9th.

Skyward Sword HD Revealed

There was no news on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but there was still some Zelda news. The popular Wii title released back in 2011, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, is getting an HD update. This HD update will feature better graphics along with new motion controls for the Joycons. This title will release July 16th alongside special Zelda themed Joycons as well.

Splatoon 3

The final announcement of the show was the reveal of Splatoon 3. This reveal trailer featured a first look at Splatoon 3. The teaser look revealed a release date of 2022. No further information was given regarding the title besides the brief look offered in the reveal trailer.
