Third person perspective in games usually means an over the shoulder camera. It gives you a better view of your surroundings, and allows you to peek around corners effortlessly. Cyberpunk 2077 comes with a first person view by default, and lots of folks are wondering how to change that, whether it’s possible, and if there’s a third person mod they can use. Our Cyberpunk 2077 third person guide will answer all those questions, so scroll down if you’re interested.
Cyberpunk 3rd person view
Sadly, the game doesn’t allow a third person camera. The default first person view is the only one you can use. PC users might have luck in a couple of weeks – a mod that allows you to switch to third person view may appear shortly, but there are no guarantees. Console players are definitely stuck in first person mode, unless the developers decided to add another camera in an update.
The only time you can use a 3rd person view in Cyberpunk 2077 is while driving. Cars and motorcycles will default to the first person camera, but you can change the view by pressing a single button.
How to switch to third person camera?
If you’re using a mouse and keyboard to move around, press Q while in the vehicle and the view will switch. If you’re playing on a gamepad, press right on the D-Pad instead. It’s as simple as that.
Most people prefer driving from a third person perspective, so it’s kind of unclear why the default for vehicles is the same as playing on foot. Changing it is quick, but you will have to do it every time you enter a vehicle, which is a bit bothersome. Hopefully, the devs will add an option to keep the vehicle view in third person by default.
